Drive north through the Sharon Plain and the Carmel coast, passing Zichron Yaakov on the way, continue northeast through Menashe hills to Nazareth, renowned as the hometown of Jesus, and an important Israel pilgrimage and religious center. During the time of Jesus Nazareth was a small and insignificant agricultural village, however modern day Nazareth is a bustling, growing city, home to the largest Arab community in Israel. Visit the Church of the Annunciation, the church of St. Joseph and the old city market.

Proceed via Cana of Galilee, view of the church of the Wedding situated on the traditional site of Jesus 1st miracle.

 

Travel through the Turan valley to the Sea of Galilee, arrive in Tiberias overlooking the Sea of Galilee for a short sightseeing tour. Tiberias, named after the Roman Emperor Tiberius, is one of the four holy cities to Judaism in Israel.

 

Drive along the Sea of Galilee passing Magdala and Geinosar on the way, visit the holy sites including the Mt. of Beatitudes, Tabgha-the Church of the Multiplication, and Capernaum.

 

We continue further east ascending to the Golan Heights (the south part), stop at Hashalom lookout, enjoy a breathtaking view of the Kinrot valley and the Sea of Galilee. On our way back we make a short stop at Yardenit-the baptismal site on the Jordan river.

Drive north along the Sharon Coast to Caesarea Maritima. Its antiquities park is one of Israel’s most impressive parks, housing unique buildings from various periods, standing side by side over an area of 500 dunams (125 acres). There are architectural remains ranging from the Hellenistic period (the 3rd century BCE) to the Crusader period (the 12th century), when Caesarea was a port city and served many years as Israel’s capital.

Visit the Roman theater, see the recent archaeological excavations with the Marine Palace, the Hippodrome, the Bath house, walk into the Crusader city, view of the Ancient Port, the Byzantine street and the Aqueduct.

Continue to the city of Haifa, the 3rd largest city of Israel and its main sea port, ascend Mt.Carmel, enjoy a panoramic view of the city, the Bay and the Bahai Gardens (world center of the Bahai faith).

We proceed eastward to the lower Galilee, visit the city of Nazareth renowned as the hometown of Jesus, and an important pilgrimage and religious center.

Travel north through the Sharon Plain and along the Via Maris passing through the Iron Valley to Megiddo (UNESCO'S World Heritage). Visit the mound of Megiddo overlooking the Jezreel Valley, known also as the Plain of Armageddon, scene of the battle of the End of Days (Revelation 16, 14-21). See the Museum, the archaeological excavations and walk through the 9th century B.C.E water tunnel.

Continue to Mt.Gilboa ("Ye mountains of Gilboa let there be no dew, neither let there be rain upon you" Samuel B, 1:21), overlooking the Jezreel Valley and enjoy the breathtaking view.

We descend to the valley passing the Sachne springs (Gan Hashlosha) time and weather permitting enjoy swimming in the warm water, proceed to the nearby city of Beth Shean (Scythopolis), visit the National Park, including the Biblical site and the impressive Roman / Byzantine City devastated by an earthquake in 749 C.E.

 

Drive to the Lower Galilee, ascend to Mt.Tabor to enjoy a breathtaking view of the surroundings and visit the local Church of Transfiguration.

 

Our next and last stop for today is the city of Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus family, we visit the church of the Annunciation and the church of St. Joseph and stroll through local market.

Drive north through the Sharon Plain and along the Via Maris passing through the Iron Valley to Megiddo (UNESCO'S World Heritage). Visit the mound of Megiddo overlooking the Jezreel Valley known also as the Plain of Armageddon, scene of the battle of the End of Days (Revelation 16, 14-21). See the Museum, the archaeological excavations and walk through the 9th century B.C.E water tunnel.

Continue to the Nahalal agricultural settlement, the first communal farming community founded in the Jezreel Valley in1921. Its name derives from a Biblical village and its trademark layout is based on concentric circles, with the public buildings in the center, next the homesteads, the farm buildings and followed by ever-widening circles of gardens and fields. Tour the settlement and hear the history with the Aviran family.

Proceed to Beit Shearim, site of an important ancient Hellenistic and Roman city and one of the bases during the Jewish revolt against the Romans. Visit the famous catacombs that housed the tombs of rich Jewish families as well as that of Rabbi Yehuda Hannasi.

Continue to Nazareth, renowned as the hometown of Jesus, and an important pilgrimage and religious center. Our tour will end with a visit to Tzippori also known as Sepphoris, a site with a rich and diverse historical and architectural legacy that includes Assyrian, Hellenistic, Judean, Babylonian, Roman, Byzantine, Islamic, Crusader, Arabic and Ottoman influences. Biblical archeologists believe that the parents of the Virgin Mary, Anna and Joachim, were natives of Tzippori, which also served as a center of Jewish religious and spiritual life in the Galilee. Visit some of the notable structures at the site and see some of the many mosaics.
